A sector Senator representing the planet Naboo as well as hundreds of other star systems, Palpatine has seemed to lack any real ambition for many years. However, with the growing corruption in and around the Republic, Palpatine sees a way to gain power. When the right moment comes, he convinces Queen Amidala of the Naboo to call for a vote of no confidence against the Senate's sitting Supreme Chancellor, Valorum. The resulting vote places Senator Palpatine in the position of Supreme Chancellor and head of the Republic Senate.

Brave and resourceful, Captain Panaka is head of Queen Amidala's Royal Security Forces. Often refered to as "the quickest eyes on Naboo," Captain Panaka is powerfully built and completely dedicated to ths saftey of his Queen. He never fails to catch the detail that might make the difference between sucess and failure in any security plan. although he trained his forces to the best of their abilities, Panaka knows their number is no match for the Trade Federation's assault on their peaceful plant. In fact, he is only a captain because the Naboo Royal Security Forces are so small that there is no need for extensive rank organization.

A native of Naboo, Ric Olie' pilots spacecraft for the Naboo Royal Security Forces. Piloting the Queen's unarmed Royal Starship, Olie' helps Queen Amidala escape Naboo during the Trade Federation invasion. When he meets the young Anakin Skywalker, he is very impressed with how quickly he catches on to the technology of the Royal Starship.
Ric Olie's call sign during the space battle against the Trade Federation is Bravo Leader.

  Boss Nass

  bossnass12.jpg
Boss Nass is the supreme leader of the natives of the vast underwater city of Otoh Gunga on the planet of Naboo. The Gungans are very intelligent and have an incredible army. The amphibious creatures live peacefully but if there is a conflict amoung them, they are taken to the monarchs of the city "Bosses." Boss Nass has a swift wit and is a great military leader. He uses his knowledge to help the Naboo to reclaim eachother's land and save their planet.

An amphibious Gungan native of Naboo, Jar Jar Binks is an outcast from the underwater city Otoh Gunga. Jar Jar is very kind and helpful, but rather clumsy. It was and unfortunate accident with Boss Nass's heyblibber that caused him to be banished from his home city.

While Jar Jar often accidentally stumbles into danger, this sometimes works to his advantage. His honesty and knowledge of his homeworld prove to be a great help to Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who rescues Jar Jar during the Trade Federation's invasion of Naboo.

Owing a life debt to the Jedi Master, Jar Jar joins him on an adventure that takes him from the dangers of Naboo's core to the wonders of Coruscant, then back to his homeworld. There his clumsy yet brave stand with his fellow Gungans against the Federation's droid army raises him in the eyes of his tribe from scorned outcast to beloved hero.

  Captain Tarpals

tarpals.JPG   Even though he doesn't show it, Captain Tarpals is probably the best friend that Jar Jar Binks has. Also a Gungan native of the city of Otoh Gunga, Tarpals is respected as a great asset to the Gungan army. He follows the orders of the Bosses very well, unlike his old companion Jar Jar.
When he first sees his friend after his absence from the city, Captain Tarpals gives Jar Jar a cold shoulder, but when Boss Nass promotes Jar Jar to "Bombard General," Captain Tarpals respects his leader's orders and treats his friend with trust and respect which helps win the battle against the Federations droid army.
